Brand new Sussex based Youth Theatre Company 'Wings', opens it's doors, offering opportunities for performance and music.

January 2019

On the 13th February 2019, Wings Youth Theatre launched, welcoming over 30 young people aged 11-18 from East and West Sussex. At the launch night, Wings’ first Musical Theatre show was revealed: Grease Schools Edition. The team behind Wings Youth Theatre were also introduced: Ann-Marie Forster, Kate Taylor, Lisa Pontremoli, Mary Ward & James Honess. The directorial team for Grease are Derrick Taylor and James Honess (Director and Musical Director, respectively).

Since launching, Wings has run two structured workshops, allowing time for audition prep and general introductions to Grease Schools Edition. Team Wings were blown away with the enthusiasm of their prospective cast, and paints a positive picture of the future for Youth Theatre in Sussex.

And so auditions were held. Team Wings wants to congratulate every single young person who stepped up to the plate. We are especially proud of those who auditioned for the first ever time, which takes huge bravery and self-belief. The Grease cast is jam-packed full of talent and potential. Both principal and ensemble parts show promise, evidenced by the first rehearsal where the whole company sang through the opening number “Rydell Alma Mater”.

After the first sing-through, Team Wings shared a moment of excitement, now looking forward to November when Grease Schools Edition will be staged in Plumpton Green Village Hall.

Tickets will go on sale after Easter.
